Minimalism
Photo Analysis
I really wanted to portray the feeling of the Northwest Peninsula, everything from the waterfront to the mountains. In most pictures I had the main subject either in color or brighter while the background is in black and white or desaturated. I tried to keep the main subject the focus while making the background disappear. The main subject is also the largest thing in the picture, drawing your eye to it more. Everything was done with natural lighting. I would have loved to have been able to find a lone tree in a field to take a picture of, or a single bird on branch. I found it a little hard to find things that weren't littered with things in the background or with minimal colors. I very much prefer taking out door pictures instead of indoor with fake lighting. I believe it would have been easier to create minimalism indoors than it is to just go out and find it out doors.
